Superstars (Part One)
by George Jasper Stone, with soundtrack by Dark0
Superstars (Part One) is an audiovisual film that explores the relationship between human memory, digital technology, and the natural world. Using motion capture to animate both virtual cameras and sculptural forms, the work creates a sense of weight and realism within synthetic environments. This technique bridges the physical and digital, producing worlds that feel simultaneously abstract and deeply human.
The film flows from world to world, reflecting on how memories and experiences can be reconfigured without a fixed framework in effect of producing spontaneity, unpredictability, and a visceral sense of presence. Its aesthetics draw on the landscapes of his home region of the Peak District, combining poetic bleakness with an industrial-digital edge to create spaces of solitude, anxiety, and introspection.
At its core, the piece interrogates tensions between the natural and industrial, past and future, while suggesting how technology reshapes identity and experience. Superstars (Part One) sits between meditation: an evolving virtual world that invites viewers to connect intuitively, while opening a broader dialogue on memory, identity, and the human condition in a digital age.
